1973 Vina Valoria Rioja

1973 Vina Valoria Rioja

The first wine is a real find that I am very excited about!  How many of you have had a traditionally made, fully mature red wine over 40 years old that was still drinking beautifully?  Well here’s your chance!  We found some 1973 Vina Valoria Rioja, actually a recent release for this estate (wow!!), and tasted it last night.  I was blown away by how fresh and colorful this wine was at 41 years old!  Bodegas Vina Valoria is a classical Rioja producer that ages their wines for an eternity in massive oak vessels, then in bottle, before releasing.  The wines are re-corked before release, so there is little worry of premature oxidation or flawed wines.  This is a truly ethereal wine, not meant for food, rather, a few good friends, your best stemware, and a few hours to savor as it changes seemingly by the minute…..  The 1973 recently received 92 points from The Wine Advocate, and is VERY limited, so if you want a bottle or two, act quickly:
